This week was pretty good. Grandma looks great in those pictures. Love the car she's riding in. She is amazing and definitely deserved the article. That does seem kinda weird you and dad went to Saint David alone. Have you ever done that since Shannon was born? I haven't really heard anything about Elder Funk. And I don't remember where Elder Richins is either. (His last name wasn't Wood :) )
We haven't been able to meet with that investigator this week since he was out of town so I'm not sure if is still reading. Our stake has a Book of Mormon reading goal for the year. That way they are all reading together as a stake and can talk about it. I'm talking in church this next Sunday about our reading for the week. Which means I actually need to read it instead of the other things I have been reading like Our Heritage and Our search for Happiness. But I'm only the youth speaker so 5 Minutes isn't bad at all. On p-days we do the typical p-day stuff of shopping and laundry and those things. Plus, we went bowling on one p-day and played a board game on another and I took care of some stuff like putting my bike together and unpacking and what not on the first p-day. Which reminds me. I'm not sure if i put the handle bars on right. there are three rings that are on there and i don't remember ever seeing them and so I don't know if there is supposed to be something covering them or if they are in the wrong spot but i think My bike will still work how I have it now. I just need a different size wrench to finish my front brakes and bike seat. There is a picture of the bike and the rings in the drop box, hopefully. And thanks for setting that up that saves me a lot of time. And pictures are hard to remember to take. So I apologize in advance for the terrible and lack of pictures. And some of the pictures in the drop box might seem random so if it does just ask me about it and I’ll tell you if there is a reason or if it really was random. The last one you can't really see what it is cause it was dark and they were like 20 yards away but it was some deer in our neighborhood. across the circle from our house.
My companion is Elder Brown. He is from Utah. He has been out a year. He is pretty cool. He is way into watching sports and following athletes so he's always talking with members and investigators about sports. Like right now him and an investigator Kenny have been talking about the British Opening I believe is what it's called. It's the golf tournament going on right now. He is our designated driver so I don't drive. I actually can't even drive right now since I haven't had my meeting with President Baker to authorize me or check me off to drive. He said he was going to do it over the phone but hasn't yet.
If you ever find that quote you should send it to me. I have been trying to find it. I think it was elder Bednar. The one about bring what you have and let us add to it.
I did get the letters you sent. I got soaked getting them though. There was a crazy storm here Saturday. It knocked out our power for a few hours. Idk how long but it was out when we got back at eightish and stayed out until we went to sleep around 9ish. Early bed time since we couldn't see to plan and study. That might be why we should have packed flash lights but it worked out. We just planned in the morning. And thanks for Cody's Email. I was going to ask you for that. And that's OK about the labels. I can just write out the address in the mean time.
So the experience from this week happened on Wednesday. We met with a family that we had tracted into a few weeks before and have been coming back each week to meet with them. We had originally planned on introducing the Book of Mormon to them but when we arrived they had invited over their neighbor to hear us as well and so we didn't have enough books for everyone. We then felt like we should postpone introducing it until next week when we would have enough books for everyone and we instead started to talk about tithing from the pamphlets that we give out. About half way through that the father of the home brought up his concern on gaining faith and being able to act on faith and so we were able to talk to him about that, which lead us to talking about prayer and the Holy Ghost. I could definitely feel the spirit prompting us to go in that direction and I feel like introducing the Book of Mormon this coming week will be a lot more meaningful after having talked about prayer and the Holy Ghost. I learned from this experience that teaching the person and listening to what they are saying and what the spirit is telling you to say is more important than getting through your planned lesson. Cause we definitely didn't talk a lot about tithing and nothing about fasting and fast offerings which is part of the same lesson. I am anxious to see if he took our invitation to pray and if he had an experience with it.
I know that as we earnestly pray and seek for our answers that God will answer our prayers.
I love you lots and look forward to hearing from you again next week. Keep my updated on the exciting events in your guys’ lives.
Love,
Elder Aaron King
