Dear Mom,
Whewww finally finished this week. This week was rough. Super awesome and rewarding but rough. But before I get into that I will answer your questions. So that picture of the ocean was about an hour from our place. It was on a p-day and we went with some other elders. The ocean does come to our area though. There are tons of bridges over bays and rivers and lakes. It is really cool. I love it! I kinda wish I could swim in it though. but alas I must wait for a period of time. :) I am trying to upload the other videos I have. I didn't realize they didn't upload with the pictures. The dogs I thought were pretty cool. They are puppies that the member is training for hunting rabbits.
That's way cool Lauren is coming here on her mission. There are some members in the ward here who are friends with her parents from going through dental school. So we were talking about that at the baptism on Saturday. They were really excited to hear about the news and were excited to tell me but I already knew from you texting Christina. ;) so we were both excited to tell each other and we both already knew! haha. But as far as info goes. This mission is super amazing! I have absolutely loved it so far. The weather currently is beautiful! Although since it is hurricane season we have been getting some showers periodically. I think today it might dump on us. The mornings have been getting pretty chilly so in the next couple of weeks I wouldn't be surprised if it gets cold and the mission sent out a list of things for a 72 hour kit and I have everything except a rain poncho and an emergency heat blanket. umm what else... idk other than that I think just pack the usual what's on the packing list. Oh we don't have Ipads so if she wants music or anything bring that. A gps would be nice. I'll get to that later. ;) but yea she will love it here!
You guys sound like you had a pretty good week. You should take some videos or something of Kinzie so I can see. She already seems like she has grown up so much! Also take videos of Tate’s meets and stuff when you can I would love to watch those. That's great Tate is stepping up and magnifying his calling. It will definitely help later in life especially in the mission. Do you know a day when Marlee and Kyle are headed to Cali?
Gordon's Baptism was amazing! Everything went smoothly other than the day before we realized he was too big for the clothes we had at the church for his baptism so we were scrambling to get some. But the service itself was great! The spirit there was amazing! The confirmation also went good. That was a really cool experience to be able to do that. I definitely agree that the Holy Ghost is incredible to have as a constant companion and it truly is a great gift from God.
You will have to wish Jon good luck for me. And let me know how the talk went. Do you know if Drake Waldie left on his mission? I thought he was waiting a little bit because of his knee but then I thought I spotted his head in the picture Andrew sent home with all the mesa missionaries in the MTC! That was a really cool picture to see all the people from home! And I think that Cinderella movie was playing on the plane when I flew out here. But I'm not totally sure since I slept like the whole way.
Anyways on to this past week. The begining of the week was mostly spent making our rounds around Gloucester so Elder Brown could tell everyone good bye and then the second half of the week was spent making our rounds around Gloucester introducing everyone to Elder Fullerton. Elder Fullerton is my new companion and he is 24 and from San Diego area of California, born there and spent the last 5 years there but mostly grew up in Colorado. I think he said Denver but I'm not totally sure. I spent Wednesday with the elders in Portsmouth waiting for Elder Fullerton to come from Kinston North Carolina after Elder Brown left. and that was pretty cool. We just did a couple lessons and tracted. Kinda nice to see another area besides Gloucester. But when we were driving back from Portsmouth that night we didn't have a gps because Elder brown took his and neither me nor Elder Fullerton had one. So that's why a gps would have been nice. We have also missed a few turns navigating around Gloucester but I think I'm starting to get the hang of where everything is. Oh and I did get the 100 day package! That was great! I didn't even realize I had been out that long so it was totally unexpected. It made my day! Thank you! Those paddle ball things are way hard. to do. This past week we have also been doing some service for a guy that we tracted into last week. He doesn't really seem interested in the gospel but is really nice and needs the service and is very grateful for it. And Elder Fullerton loves it because He use to work on cars and the guy has like a full auto garage with the lift for the car and everything. Oh yea I guess I could mention that as well. Elder Fullerton Loves cars and he would race and drift cars before the mission. He is kinda a crazy driver and so I don't think the Tiwi's(?) they are installing in all the cars are going to like him as a driver. He is very nice, Kinda quite, which doesn't work well since I think I might be partially deaf but whatever we may just take up sign language. ;) and he's pretty funny. So all in all so far he is pretty cool and I think we will get along good. Um I already talked about the baptism so I think that is it. Oh we also met with Cole who is our 15 year old investigator with Aspergers and set up the tentative date of October 17 for his baptism but he needs to start reading the book of Mormon and coming to church. Which he did come to church yesterday so we are off to a good start! ;)
Well that's all I have for now. Remember that joy comes through the little things in life. I love how in the book of Mormon there are so many scriptures about walking in faith or just moving forward and doing the everyday little things like reading your scriptures and saying your prayers. Everything will always work out in the end if you just Trust in God and keep moving forward doing the little things. (Mormon message Good things to come/ Mormon message choose ye this day) both are really good. I love you and hope you have a great week this week.
