Hey everyone,
Things are going good here. This last week was crazy! so on Sunday we had a testimony meeting as a district since the sisters were leaving Monday Morning at like 3:30. It was a great meeting and the spirit was so strong there. I love my MTC district and hope they are doing as well as I am in the field.
Monday was weird since the sisters were gone so it was just the three companionships of elders left in our district. But the role-play lessons we taught that day probably went the best. That night we did a group role-play lesson as a zone, which is hard because there are definitely too many cooks in the kitchen. So after failing the first one we decided to just sit and listen unless we felt strongly prompted by the spirit to say something. And WOW that lesson was phenomenal! It truly testified to me how when we teach by the spirit we can be unified with our companions and we can know what the investigator needs to here.
Then Tuesday I got up at 2:30 a.m. so we could be at the airport on time and get everything situated. (That’s why I looked so tired in my pictures) and then I flew to Atlanta and then Virginia. The flights were good except for the bumpy landing in Virginia. They really hit that hard. Then we met with the mission president there and we handed out some pass along cards while we were getting our bags. They fed us dinner and we stayed in a hotel that night. Best sleep yet! The beds were so soft.
Wednesday we were assigned our trainers and mine is Elder Brown. He is cool, really nice and helps me out. I think he is a good trainer but I've never had one before so I don't really know. After we were assigned we went to visit some people in our area. Which is Gloucester Virginia. I forgot to grab our address though so hopefully you have it and I am sending out everyone’s letters today so it will be on those. Sorry about how long the letters are taking. They will probably be outdated by the time they get there. The people we visited were all really nice. Actually all of the people I have met here have been extremely nice. The only downside is that pretty much everyone turns us away because they "already have a church and know Jesus". But that's ok. That’s their choice. I'm just out here to invite and help them. We do a lot of tracting here. We have a few investigators that we teach but mostly tracting and asking members for referrals. The members do feed us quite a bit. Like 5 out of seven days a week and that’s kind of our day to day stuff study, tract, oneish lessons, member dinner, and tract some more.
Everything is way green out here. It's kinda weird how many trees and green stuff there is. It's humid but hasn't been too hot so I can still breathe. Takes a little more effort but it still happens. We had a storm Saturday. We were tracting and people would answer the door and tell us to go home because there were tornado watches out and the storm was blowing in, but we kept tracting until it was pouring and then we went to our car to try and keep our scriptures dry. Oh yea I’m in a car area no biking. My bike is in the box still in our house. Oh yea our house. It’s just me and Elder brown. Two story three bed two bath. Really nice. Or at least it was. We came home after that storm and when we went inside our stairs were a water fall and or walls were crying. The rubber tube from the washer to the house broke and was squirting waster everywhere for who knows how long. We were gone for like five hours. So know we are taking care of that. I'll take pictures and send them next week. I have a couple now but they aren't that great.
We also found this guy tracting who use to be a member and is going through a hard time right now and so when he saw us he told us to come back this week because he needs some guidance in his life and wants to go back to church so I’ll have to keep you updated with that.
So we don't have iPad of smart phones or any of that stuff. I asked Elder brown about it because I hadn't heard anything here about it and he said it was supposed to happen like every transfer for the last year so nobody here knows what’s going on including president baker. In the MTC however I heard August 1st North American missions will have iPad and they are like four hundred dollars and you take it home when you’re done with the mission. So Ill update you more on that if I ever hear anything.
I'm sure I’m forgetting something. This week was crazy, so ask me questions.
I am excited to be here in Virginia and to continue to learn and help others do the same. I love all you guys and hope everything is going good there.
Love,
Elder Aaron King
