Dear Mom,
Dear Mom,
Dear Mom,
Hey how's life in AZ? I think I can see pictures if you put them in the drop box. My talk in sacrament meeting went pretty good. Or at least I think it did. I think it was a little short but we still ended on time and the stuff I had thought about sharing to fill more time was shared by another speaker so it all worked out. It was on Alma 37:6. By small and simple things shall great things come to pass or something along those lines. I will probably ask the Frivances if they have the right size wrench since they live next door, but they are out of town for a while. Taking pictures is hard. There aren't a whole lot of picture worthy opportunities. You could send me a flashlight in the next box if you want but other than that situation I don't think I will use it. And we have four umbrellas here I just didn't think about it going to the mail box. We have not put together a 72 hour kit. No one has even mentioned that. I don't even know what to put in one. It must not be that important. Haha But if it would make you feel better then you can send me a list of things to put in it and I'll put it together. We haven't made it back to that investigator who was reading the Book of Mormon yet. We were supposed to go yesterday but he canceled since his dog died. He told us that he didn't really want to talk to anyone right then. He is 15 years old in case i didn't mention that last time. Which is really cool because he is way smart for a 15 year old. That is way cool you are going to Alaska. Was this like a last minute deal. I had no idea you guys were going. I sent dad a birthday card but he probably didn't get it if you left Friday. I sent it Wednesday. How long does it take for mail to go from Virginia to Arizona? How was Dad's birthday in Alaska? and tell Tate Happy birthday for me. I made him a card too and will send it tomorrow so it will be waiting for him. I am the only one in our family who hasn't been to Alaska now. Well I guess Kristi and Kinzie but out of your five kids I'm the only one. I will have to go up there when I get back. And maybe shoot a bear. I really want to get a stuffed bear. Virginia's green is way different from Arizona's! Mesa doesn't even really have a green and Flagstaff is a scarce green compared to here. There is trees and grass and bushes of just about every color green along with a bunch of flowers people grown in their yards. They have these cool bushes with flowers that make balls. Kinda like a dandelion except bigger and flowers instead of white stuff and part of a bush instead of on a stem. This past week was pretty good. We did a lot of service for people. Which is really good but number wise it really looks like we were slackin. haha one day we were helping a member move a goat shed from a nonmembers house to his house (the members) and so that took just about all day to do so our numbers for that day were all zeros except for a few invitations from tracting that night. That was really cool for me to do (moving the shed). We took it all apart and moved it in pieces and then had to put it all together at the member’s house. The nonmember is actually an investigator and is really good friends with the member and so he was helping us out and we were all making redneck jokes since when we were moving the shed and putting it up problems would come up and we would just make it work with what we had. The best example of this was when we were moving the pieces a 11 foot post broke and so we went into the woods behind the members house and cut down a tree and turned that into our post. So now their shed is all square, made in a factory posts except for one which is a big log with a lat knoch cut into it for us to attach it to the rest of the shed. But by the end I really was a red neck. My neck got so sunburned and it hurt to where my collared shirt the next day. But I put Aloe on it and now it is fine. My thought for today comes from my talk. We should always be trying to do small and simple things. And then I would say to do small and simple things to build upon the small and simple things we already do. If we aren't reading our scriptures or praying daily then we need to do that. If we are then how can we make it more effective or meaningful? I have been trying to do this with keeping the Sabbath day holy, since that is a big focus right now for the church from the first presidency. I feel like I do a pretty good job at keeping the Sabbath holy, especially as a missionary where I really don't have a lot to do to make it not holy, but I have noticed things that I can do to improve. As a missionary it is hard to separate the Sabbath from your other days and make it holier than your others. One thing that I have been doing and has really helped me is to focus on the covenants we make at church by partaking of the sacrament. I have noticed that I can stay more focused and feel the spirit more when I do that throughout the Sabbath. So I'd like to invite you and everyone to find some small and simple thing to do or work on and make it your focus for the next week or two. Well that's pretty much it for this week. Like always ask me questions about things and Let me know how things are going there and what y'all are up to. (That's another thing a lot of people say y'all here.) Love you lots.
